You will need to consult with an attorney to help you analyze the facts and help you assess your particular case. Questions should include, “How long has the child been in your custody?” Have the parents gone more than six months without visiting the child?” “Have the parents gone more than six months without paying any support for the child?” “Will the parents consent to the adoption? ” If they will sign a prepared consent to adopt, you can bypass the TPR and go straight to the adoption.
In either situation, the adoptive parent must go through the referral process known as the “Next Friend Report” for step-parent adoption in Pierce County. Through this process, the adoption investigator from Juvenile Court will come out to your home to interview you and the child. Then a report is submitted to the Court stating their findings and recommendations to the Court on whether to approve the Petition for Adoption.
Adoption attorneys or adoption law firms are best for prospective birth mothers who have already identified an adoptive family and who feel they don’t need much adoption counseling and support. It is important to carefully consider the resources and services you’d like to have available before choosing an adoption attorney as your adoption professional.

For a valid adoption, parental consent to adoption is an essential condition. When a parent provides his/her free unconditional agreement to their child's adoption it is known as placement by consent. There are state specific laws regarding the form and procedure of placement by consent. Some state laws require the consent of the child to be adopted if the child is of a certain age.
A private independent adoption and an agency adoption both require the services of an adoption attorney. A private independent adoption is a direct placement between the birth mother and the adoptive parent. An agency adoption involves placement of the child with the adoptive parent by a public or private licensed child-placing agency. In both private and agency adoptions, you will need an approved homestudy by a licensed social worker.  Krigel & Krigel’s adoption attorneys can advise you on the adoption laws in Missouri and Kansas.  Our attorneys can also help you find a qualified and experienced social worker to complete your homestudy. It is helpful to consult an attorney early in the process so that the adoption laws and your adoption options can be fully explained.
My best friends have been trying so hard to have a baby but haven’t been successful and are looking to adopt. You stated that adoption agencies can handle infant domestic adoption, international adoptions, and foster care adoptions, and sometimes all three at the same agency. Can they find a baby that doesn’t have cat allergies so they don’t have to get rid of their cat?
Once the child has met these eligibility requirements they will be placed for adoption by their natural parent or parents. Adoption laws are state-specific and to adopt a child, one must meet the qualifications under the laws of his/her state. Adoption laws differ substantially from state to state. Adoption by minors is prohibited in some states while, some states specifically provide for adult adoption. Both married and single parents can adopt a child. After the investigative procedure, there will be a hearing and the judge will pass an adoption order in the best interests of the child. An order of adoption legally transmits all parental rights and responsibilities and custody from the child's parents to the adoptive parents.
